SACRED ENVIRONMENTS FOR THE WEB ( SEW )
INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT AND CREATION PROJECT IN THE DIGITAL HUMANITIES
Sacred Environments for the Web, International 3D Web Environments.
COURSEWORK
3D Web. Three Dimensional Internet for Letters, Arts and Sciences in the Digital Humanities. This course will create a three dimensional interactive online model of the sacred site. Sacred natural or cultural elements within this earth environment will be selected by the student and embellished with higher levels of detail. The student will team up with a high school student from the region. The high school student will assist the college student by gathering data from environmental surveys and maps to create 3D interactive elements for the SEW environment. The semester will progress from entry of general structural, geographical and environmental information to greater resolution through modeling and rendering techniques. The landform or structure will be created first and then the student will continue to add more precision in form and content. This will include the creation of plant and animal species, biome properties and / or cultural artifacts unique to or representative of the sacred site. The final critique will include the insertion of local wisdom and lore gathered from documents, living indigenous peoples or spiritual and environmental visionaries.

CRITIQUE 2: Submit 3D Web (online and interactive) model of the landform or structure.
CRITIQUE 3: Submit 3D Web environment with species or cultural artifacts that include sound or dynamic effects.
CRITIQUE 4: Submit 3D Web environment with wisdom, lore or interviews.
WRITING COMPONENT: At the conclusion of the course, the student submits written evaluations of the site, process and project to the SEW online repository. Each student is automatically a member of the SEW Open Source Cooperative.
OPEN SOURCE COOPERATIVE
The SEW project is open to all.
This extensive and comprehensive project gifts to the interactive 3D web participant and the field of digital humanities access to significant places from planet earth. Each creator on the SEW site is able to define his or her own three dimensional world. Each creator maintains all rights to his or her original work. This mode of creation allows the international community to individually own the sacred knowledge related to sacred earth sites. In keeping with the spirit of the earth community sacred trust, SEW is a non-profit open source cooperative.
How to cocreate Sacred Environments for the Web.
Grantors and Donors can submit funding, donations or equipment to cover the scope of the project. Support is needed for travel, instructor and cocreator stipends and salaries, learning materials, workshop fees, computers, 3D interactive creation and serving media, including modeling, animating and mapping software and all appropriate and current coding tools.
Individuals and collectives as wisdom keepers, environmental visionaries, architects, engineers, physicists, world builders, students, universities, colleges and high schools can sign up through our online SEW Open Source Cooperative membership tool.
